Tablet press toolingTablet punches and dies, upper, lower and die
Chung Hsing Pharmaceutical Tooling
A tablet's shape comes from its upper punch, lower punch and die. The required geometry is defined in customer specifications that arrive in many different formats.

Specifications arrive in different formats
Tablet diameter, thickness, weight, cup radius, engraving, bevel and score-line details must all be transferred into machining drawings. Source files range from TSM and EU templates to spreadsheets and scanned faxes. Preparing one tool set took close to an hour and transcription errors could make the tablet face unacceptable.
Convert specifications into shop drawings
CADASU maps each source into a consistent set of fields, applies the internal title block and numbering rules, converts imperial units, and carries engraving details into the notes. Engineers verify every field against its marked source.
One drawing set in 14 minutes
Preparation time fell from about one hour to 14 minutes, while transcription-related specification errors dropped by nearly 90 percent. Rush drawing changes can now be returned the same day.
“With tablets there is no ‘close enough’. Miss one decimal point and the batch cannot ship.”
